To get this data from a web address into an Excel spreadsheet, we can use the WEBSERVICE function. I'll also wrap a NUMBERVALUE function around to convert the import text from Yahoo! Finance into a numerical value we can use inside Excel. Example 1: Pull The 'Current Stock Price' for Microsoft's Stock. The VBA macro will extract or fetch data (current stock price with changes) from Rediff Money every few seconds and show the figures against a given list of scripts or company (multiple scripts). Create a Portfolio in Excel. Let’s create a small portfolio in Excel. Remember, it’s a Macro Enabled Excel. I have two sheets.

Hi everyone,
I would have the following question. I would like to execute some stock simulations using excel and the data one can find in Yahoo finance. As an example I will be using this data:
I know that Yahoo finance does allow me to download their data in an Excel form, but my aims are somewhat more ambitious than that or rather have more automation in mind. What I would like to do is to simply extract the data directly from the website into excel without downloading the data itself in excel form. What I did try is to use 'use Data from Web' in order to download the table, but for some reason my Excel (2010), cannot detect the table. It might have something to do with the new design of the Website of Yahoo, as I see on numerous you tube videos, that using this means of importing data was possible for older versions of yahoos website.
Now can someone propose an alternative solution as to how to do this (writing excel macros is within my ability, but this is another level that I yet have to reach). e.g. a solution would be an Excel macro that would either download the data in excel form then open the document copy the data from it into the existing sheet and then delete the one that was downloaded (I never used VBA in an environment that would leave the constraints of Excel itself as such I do not know if that is possible). The most important question would be how to get the data from the table in the link above into an Excel sheet by 'calling' it via a macro command.
Thanks for any feedback!

Hey guys, So here is the situation. I want to be able to bring price data for stocks into excel. I have spent a few hours researching and looking for ways to do so, but haven't been able to find anything successful. I would get the data from YahooFinance or Google Finance. From what I have seen, the YahooFinance API has changed/no longer supported? There was a good tutorial I found that did my desired task with Yahoo, but it is a few years old, and the URL used from Yahoo has changed. Other issues: I am using Excel on Mac :( #2 is that I am not a programmer, and thus don't have an extensive enough knowledge of working with VBA. If anyone has any tips that would be great. Thanks!
